CarbiCrete Supplies Amazon with Cement-Free Concrete in First Large-Scale Paver Deployment

The continued collaboration is exploring further deployments of decarbonized concrete at additional locations
MONTREAL, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — CarbiCrete, a leading firm in the decarbonization of concrete, has supplied Amazon with three different products at a new Amazon UK delivery station in Stockton-on-Tees.
In the first wide-scale deployment of its cement-free pavers anywhere in the world, CarbiCrete products now cover around 6,400m² of paving across parking spaces and footpaths at the site.
The delivery station is Amazon’s first building to pursue the latest version (v1.1) of Living Future’s Zero Carbon Certification, a rigorous standard that sets demanding requirements for both construction and operations.
CarbiCrete’s cement-free paving is one of several sustainability features that could reshape how Amazon—and the wider industry—approaches construction and the reduction of embodied carbon.
Cement production, the binding ingredient in conventional concrete, accounts for approximately 8% of global carbon dioxide emissions, with over 900kg of CO2 emissions generated for every 1,000kg of material produced.
CarbiCrete’s technology replaces 100% of the cement content in masonry and hardscape products with a steel-making by-product, avoiding cement-related emissions. The company then uses carbon dioxide to cure its concrete, permanently storing captured carbon within the products, significantly lowering the embodied carbon of the construction projects in which they are used.
“Seeing CarbiCrete products deployed at this scale is an important milestone for our technology and for lower-carbon construction more broadly.,” says Gary Belisle, CarbiCrete’s CEO. “Projects like these are essential to demonstrating the potential of cement-free concrete as a lower-carbon alternative in large-scale construction.”
Following the Stockton-on-Tees deployment, CarbiCrete is exploring how its expanding manufacturing footprint – spanning Canada, Europe, the U.S. and Australia – could support future construction projects, including with Amazon.
