Episode Six, a leading global technology provider of enterprise-grade card issuer-side processing and ledger infrastructure, today announced the launch of the E6 Token Control Ledger™, a bank-side ledger that gives financial institutions a true system of record for tokenized money. It tracks exactly which customer owns what, stays accurate even when a bank’s core banking platform is offline, and continuously reconciles a bank’s position against the funds backing it.

Tokenized deposits and stablecoins are moving from pilot to production across the banking industry, and the market is expanding quickly, with multiple networks and consortiums building infrastructure to carry them between financial institutions. Each one expects a bank to handle its own side: creating and redeeming tokens, tracking who owns what, and keeping everything reconciled, in every currency and market the bank operates in.

“Every network a bank joins today comes with its own onboarding process and the same expectation: solve issuance, attribution, and reconciliation on your own,” said Daryn Griggs, Episode Six’s Managing Director of APAC. “The E6 Token Control Ledger lets a bank connect to those networks without redesigning how it operates today, while giving it a system of record and proof of funds for every customer.”

The E6 Token Control Ledger sits between a bank’s core banking platform and the wallets or networks it connects to, running the bank-grade layer of issuance and control that custody and key-management tools do not provide. It manages the full lifecycle of a tokenized deposit or stablecoin, including minting, holding, moving, and redeeming it, while continuously reconciling the bank’s token position, customer balances, and reserves. The same ledger lets a bank distribute a public, private, or consortium-backed stablecoin, and connects to Episode Six’s card issuing and processing capabilities so tokenized funds can be spent anywhere a card is accepted.

“Tokenized money is going to move across dozens of networks, in as many currencies and markets as banks operate in, and the ones planning for that now will be ready well ahead of the ones waiting for a single standard to emerge,” said John Mitchell, CEO and Co-Founder of Episode Six. “The E6 Token Control Ledger lets a bank build this once, on the operating model, controls, and keys it already trusts, and carry it into whatever networks and currencies come next.”

As tokenized deposits and stablecoins continue to move into production at banks around the world, Episode Six expects multi-currency, multi-network support to become one of the defining requirements banks look for. The E6 Token Control Ledger is available now to Episode Six’s customers globally, with additional network integrations and capabilities planned for release throughout the coming year.
